Wheaton North's girls volleyball team swept Hinsdale Central 25-23, 25-21 at home Wednesday, Oct. 7, bouncing back from a loss to Batavia the day before.
Both sets were tight. The Falcons held off Hinsdale Central by two points in the opener and pulled away slightly in the second, according to scores published by the Daily Herald.
The win followed a Tuesday, Oct. 6 loss to Batavia, 25-18, 22-25, 25-17, which dropped Wheaton North to 8-13 on the season, Shaw Local reported.
No individual stats were reported for the Hinsdale Central match. Earlier this season, setter Emily Rochford, outside hitters Addison Clausing and Kate Kluckman, and defensive specialist Sasha Benson have been key contributors for the Falcons.
Tigers place fifth at Naperville North Twilight Invite
Wheaton Warrenville South's girls cross country team scored 151 points to finish fifth out of 15 teams at the Naperville North Twilight Invite on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Plainfield North won the meet with 84 points. Lincoln-Way Central took second at 96, followed by host Naperville North at 115 and Yorkville at 121. Downers Grove South finished just behind the Tigers with 154 points.
The fifth-place showing marks a step back from WWS's runner-up finish at the Naperville Invite on Sept. 25, where the Tigers scored 59 points behind Lincoln-Way Central's 30. No individual runner times or top finishers were reported for the Twilight Invite.
WWS girls cross country is scheduled to race next at the Loyola Academy Invite on Friday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m.
