Fifty-eight downtown Wheaton businesses will hand out candy and treats to costumed children on Saturday, Oct. 31, giving families a walkable Halloween morning option downtown.

The Downtown Wheaton Association's trick-or-treat event runs from 10 a.m. to noon. Chesterbrook Academy, a Wheaton preschool at 275 W Loop Rd. that serves children from six weeks through pre-kindergarten, is sponsoring the event.

Patch first reported the full list of participating businesses, which range from restaurants and bakeries to toy stores, salons, fitness studios, a school of music and art organizations. Among them: Graham's Fine Chocolate & Ice Cream, Little Popcorn Store, MOORE Toys & Gadgets, Baby Doll Bakery, DuPage Art League, Jerry Evans School of Music, Suzette's Creperie and Wheaton Drama.

The 58 shops represent a cross-section of a downtown district that includes more than 200 locally owned businesses and 50-plus restaurants, according to the Downtown Wheaton Association's website. Other participants include Bien Trucha, Gia Mia, Egg'lectic Cafe, Extract Juicery, Bonita Bowls, Front Street Kitchen, Hale Street Cantina, Wildflower Mercantile, Stones Jewelry, Next Yoga and dozens more.

Halloween lands on a Saturday this year. That means the morning event won't compete with school schedules. Families looking for afternoon options can also head to Warrenville, which set its trick-or-treat hours at 3–7 p.m. on the same day.

The association's outdoor events run rain or shine, though it reserves the right to cancel or delay for lightning or dangerous conditions. Weather updates go to its Facebook and Instagram accounts, @DowntownWheaton.
