Wheaton Academy's Colton Miller threw three touchdown passes Saturday, Sept. 19, and the Warriors rolled past St. Edward 42-7 to stay unbeaten at 5-0.
It is the program's best start since 2022.
Miller, a senior in his second year as the starting quarterback, connected with Eli Cherry twice for scores and found Kaden Larsen for a third. On the ground, Ryan Siders, Ethan Brooks and Hudsen Hall each added rushing touchdowns as the Warriors built a commanding lead in West Chicago.
Junior linebacker Charlie Sias led the defensive effort, with Brooks and Hall contributing as defensive ends. Through five games, Wheaton Academy (3-0 Chicagoland Christian Conference) has allowed just 42 points. The defense held St. Edward (2-3, 1-2) to a single score: a three-yard fourth-quarter run by junior quarterback Jake Linkowski.
The Warriors had matched their 2025 win total by Week 4, according to Shaw Local. First-year head coach Justin Swider's squad went 1-3 down the stretch last season and missed the playoffs.
"This year we're not taking anything for granted," Miller told Shaw Local after the Week 4 win over Marian Central on Sept. 12.
That focus will be tested. Wheaton Academy's remaining schedule includes Hope Academy, Bishop McNamara and Aurora Christian.
West Chicago bounces back
Across town, West Chicago erupted for 56 points Saturday in a wild 56-42 victory over Elmwood Park in Upstate Eight East play, according to the Daily Herald.
Bobby Elizondo set the tone with an 83-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and added two rushing scores. Iann Lemus contributed a pair of rushing touchdowns of his own, and Derek Murphy broke off a 35-yard touchdown run.
Murphy also anchored the defense with a team-high 11 tackles. Tadeo Lemus and Geoffrey Fleming each recorded interceptions for the Wildcats (2-3, 1-2).
The outburst was a sharp reversal from Week 4, when West Chicago fell 49-6 to Glenbard South.
West Chicago hosts its centennial Homecoming on Friday, Sept. 25. Wheaton Academy faces Hope Academy next, though a specific date has not been confirmed.
