The Wheaton Public Library Board of Trustees votes Monday, July 20, on whether to raise the public copy fee for color copies from 25 cents to 50 cents, according to the meeting agenda posted July 15 on the City of Wheaton Agenda Center.

The nine-member board will also take up non-resident library card participation and the tax method used to calculate non-resident fees for homeowners and renters. Under current library policy, non-residents living within Wheaton Unit School District 200 boundaries can purchase a card at a fee set by state formula based on assessed property value. Cards are valid for one year. The specific fee amounts for the coming year have not been made public.

Non-resident cards are available at no cost to veterans and surviving spouses exempt from property taxes, and to students 18 and under attending a Wheaton school who receive free or reduced-price lunches.

The board will elect officers for the July 2026 through July 2027 term. Current trustees are Laurie Metanchuk, Alan Herbach, Vallari Talapatra, Christine Fenne, Ralph Holmen, Robert Lyon, Simone Morton, Robert Rammer, and Stephen Siemer. Their current officer roles are not listed in public documents ahead of the vote.

An update on an unspecified interior project is also on the agenda under unfinished business.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the third-floor boardroom at 225 N. Cross St. Residents can also listen via Zoom (Meeting ID: 898 3360 6165, Passcode: 561719) or by phone at 312-626-6799.

Individuals needing disability accommodations should contact the library at 630-868-7594 at least five days before the meeting. The board meets monthly on the third Monday.
