Sixteen homes sold in Wheaton the week of Aug. 24–30, landing at a median price of $652,000, according to property transfer records published by Shaw Local.

The week's priciest deal was a four-bedroom, four-bathroom home at 1795 Whitt Court. The new owners paid $965,000 for the 4,168-square-foot property, or $232 per square foot.

The new owner bought the second-highest sale, a four-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 1906 Stoddard Avenue, for $875,000. At 2,236 square feet, that works out to $391 per square foot. Mark Tronrud and Rebecca Tronrud paid $737,500 for a 2,028-square-foot home at 1620 Sawyer Avenue, the third-highest closing.

The median sale was a 1,957-square-foot home at 446 Hamilton Drive that sold for $652,000, or $333 per square foot. The week's lowest closing was a two-bedroom condo at 1424 Stonebridge Circle, which sold for $230,000.

Two other condominiums also traded. A one-bedroom unit at 455 West Front Street sold for $300,000, and a two-bedroom unit at 1671 Grosvenor Circle went for $290,000.

The closings add real numbers to a summer of national attention for Wheaton's 60187 ZIP code. Realtor.com ranked the ZIP No. 10 on its 2026 Hottest ZIP Codes list, published Aug. 10, citing a median listing price of $574,600 and a median 25 days on market in the first half of 2026. Listings attracted three times the national average in online views.

The $652,000 median closed price for the Aug. 24–30 week sits well above that $574,600 median listing figure, though the two numbers measure different things: listing price reflects what sellers ask, while closed price reflects what buyers pay.

Buyers are well-qualified. Realtor.com's report found Wheaton 60187 buyers averaged an 18.3% down payment, about $98,533, with a median FICO score of 773. Both figures top national averages of 13.1% down and a 747 median FICO. The ZIP's median listing price also ran 55.7% above the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metro median of $369,075.

Inventory remains tight. Realtor.com's report found housing stock in the top 10 hottest ZIP codes was running about 60.5% below pre-pandemic levels, compared with 11.3% below nationally.
