Warrenville will host a new holiday shopping event on Friday, Dec. 4, splitting the action between two venues and linking them by trolley.
The Merry Market runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at two locations: Warrenville City Hall, 28W701 Stafford Place, and the Warrenville Mercantile at Leone Schmidt Heritage Park, 28W164 Warrenville Road. A holiday trolley will shuttle visitors between the sites throughout the evening, according to the city's event page. The city has not yet announced trolley pickup locations or accessibility details.
Vendors at City Hall will set up in the council chambers. The Mercantile, a seasonal marketplace with eight storefronts of rotating local vendors, serves as the second shopping stop. It soft-launched on Nov. 1, 2025, with a ribbon cutting and is running its first full season through Dec. 20, according to the city's Mercantile page.
At the Mercantile's Nov. 1, 2025, ribbon cutting, Community and Economic Development Director Amy Emery tied the project to the site's commercial roots. "We are bringing history back to life again," Emery said, "and if Leone was here, I think she would be so proud to see this opportunity for the people of Warrenville to come together to support our local businesses …"
A $25,000 grant from DuPage County's Member Initiative Program will reimburse the city for start-up costs at the Mercantile.
The city is inviting vendors from Warrenville and surrounding communities to apply for Merry Market booth space at a flat fee of $25. Tables and chairs are provided. Vendors may begin setting up at 3:30 p.m. and must remain for the full three hours. Categories include handmade goods and crafts, small businesses, artisans, packaged food and specialty treats, and nonprofits. Electrical access may be available on request.
Vendors with questions can contact the city at 630-836-3035 or [email protected].
