DuPage County's first open sheriff's race in over a decade tops the ballot for Wheaton voters when polls open Nov. 3.

Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 19, at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton and other locations across the county, according to a Wheaton voter guide published by Patch. Polls on Election Day are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sheriff: Noonan vs. Coolidge

The sheriff's race is an open seat. Republican Sean Noonan, a sworn officer with the Oakbrook Terrace Police Department and former County Board member for District 2, faces Democrat Peter Coolidge, a 28-year veteran of the DuPage County Sheriff's Office who retired in February 2024.

Incumbent Sheriff James Mendrick chose not to seek a third term. He ran unsuccessfully for the Republican gubernatorial nomination instead.

Noonan won the Republican primary after defeating Undersheriff Eddie Moore. Former County Board Chairman Dan Cronin endorsed Noonan on his campaign website, saying his "experience on the County Board and in law enforcement makes him uniquely qualified to lead the Sheriff's Office."

Coolidge's campaign calls for mandatory Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for every deputy and a community advisory board of local residents. He is seeking to become the first Democrat elected DuPage County sheriff since 1839, according to the DuPage Policy Journal.

6th Congressional District: Casten vs. Conforti

The district covers Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Lombard, Elmhurst, Downers Grove and other DuPage communities. Incumbent Democrat Sean Casten of Downers Grove is seeking a fifth term. Republican Niki Conforti, an energy consultant from Glen Ellyn, is looking to flip the seat back to the GOP. Republican Peter Roskam held it from 2007 to 2019 before Casten defeated him, Patch reported.

3rd Congressional District: Ramirez vs. Oakley

Incumbent Democrat Delia Ramirez faces Republican Angel Oakley, a business owner and former Winfield trustee.

County Board chair: Conroy vs. Grasso

Democrat Deb Conroy, the first woman and first Democrat to lead the DuPage County Board in more than 75 years, faces Republican Gary Grasso, an attorney and former Burr Ridge mayor. Conroy has pointed to a AAA bond rating upgrade and the county's first Crisis Recovery Center during her tenure. Grasso has said Burr Ridge became debt-free under his leadership.

County clerk and treasurer

County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek faces challenger Paula Deacon Garcia, a current County Board member who chaired the Finance Committee. County Treasurer Gwen Henry faces challenger Yeena Yoo, also a sitting County Board member.
