Wheaton voters pick a new DuPage County sheriff and decide the county board chair race when polls open Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Polling places are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the DuPage County Election Division. Registered DuPage County voters may cast a ballot at any polling place in the county. Voters who don't know their assigned location can look it up on the Illinois State Board of Elections website.

Sheriff and board chair

The DuPage County sheriff's race pits Democrat Peter Coolidge against Republican Sean Noonan, according to Patch. Both want to succeed Sheriff James Mendrick, a Republican who did not seek a third term. Mendrick made an unsuccessful bid for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

Incumbent DuPage County Board Chair Deb Conroy, a Democrat first elected in 2022, faces Republican Gary Grasso. Conroy was the first woman elected to lead the county board.

County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek is defending her seat against Paula Deacon Garcia. Incumbent Treasurer Gwen Henry faces Yeena Yoo.

Congressional and statewide races

Wheaton residents have two congressional races on their ballots. In the 3rd Congressional District, Democrat Delia Ramirez faces Republican Angel Oakley. A separate 6th Congressional District race also appears on some Wheaton ballots, depending on the voter's address.

Top statewide contests include Democrat Juliana Stratton against Republican Don Tracy for U.S. Senate and Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker against Republican Darren Bailey. Races for attorney general, secretary of state, comptroller and treasurer are also on the ballot.

In the 18th Judicial Circuit's fourth subdistrict, incumbent Judge Christina Kye, a Democrat, faces Republican Michael W. Fleming.

Voters with mail-in ballots must have them postmarked or placed in a drop box by Nov. 3. The Wheaton drop box is at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Rd. Ballot envelopes are collected daily and returned to the DuPage County Clerk's Office for processing.
