Drivers in Wheaton will need to find a way around parts of Bridge Street and Manchester Road on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, as crews resurface both corridors.

The closures affect Bridge Street between Manchester Road and Liberty Drive and Manchester Road between Gables Boulevard and Bridge Street, according to the city's traffic alert. The work is part of the city's 2026 Road, Sewer and Water Rehabilitation Program.

On Friday, detours begin at about 9 a.m. for oil application to the road surface. The streets will reopen once the oil dries, the city said. On Saturday, detours start at about 7 a.m. for placement of the final asphalt surface. Paving is expected to wrap up by the end of the day.

The project has been underway on these same stretches for several days. A separate city notice posted Nov. 3 described milling work scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4, on the same road segments.

Detour signs will be posted along the affected routes. The city advised drivers to consider alternate routes to avoid delays but did not name specific streets.
