Several northside Wheaton streets will close Saturday, Aug. 15, as the Wheaton North High School Falcon Marching Band winds through the neighborhood for its annual March-a-Thon fundraiser.

Road closures begin at 8 a.m. near the Central Athletic Complex on Naperville Road, according to a City of Wheaton road closure notice. The Falcon Band Parents Organization says the band steps off at 9 a.m.

The FBPO, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports the band program, calls the March-a-Thon its biggest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds help offset season fees that run $865 per marcher and $1,025 per percussionist, covering uniforms, equipment, transportation and competition costs.

@wheatonnorthfbpo: "It's that time again!! Our biggest fundraiser of the year — March-a-Thon 2026 — is coming! On Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 9am, the Falcon Marching Band will step off."

What streets are affected?

The city's alert page includes an interactive map showing the full 2026 route and closures. In past years, the band has marched east on Indiana Street, north on Washington Street, west on Seminary Avenue, north on Hale Avenue and west on Union Avenue. Residents should check the interactive map for this year's confirmed route.

The city can be reached at 630-260-2000 with questions about closures.

The band's season ahead

The March-a-Thon falls one day after District 200 students in grades 1–12 return to school on Friday, Aug. 14. The Falcon Marching Band, which includes brass, woodwinds, drum line, front ensemble and color guard, has a competition-heavy fall schedule: the Chicagoland Marching Invitational in Wheeling on Sept. 19, the Red & Black Fall Classic in DeKalb on Sept. 26 and the Bands of America Super Regional in Indianapolis on Oct. 17.
