Wheaton Drama Inc. wants local singers and actors on its stage this holiday season, and auditions for the romantic musical "She Loves Me" are less than a month away.
The community theater company is casting performers high school age and up for the show, which runs Friday, Nov. 20 through Sunday, Dec. 13 at Playhouse 111, 111 N. Hale St. in downtown Wheaton. Director Linda Spadlowski and music director Kitty Karn lead the production, with choreography by Kate McIlvain.
Open auditions take place Sunday, Sept. 13 and Monday, Sept. 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the playhouse. Performers who can't attend in person may submit a video audition by midnight Friday, Sept. 11. Callbacks are by invitation only on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
What to prepare
Each auditioner gets a one-hour slot that includes a group dance combination and a 90-second individual singing portion. Performers should bring a musical theater song in the style of the show (no songs from "She Loves Me" itself). An accompanist is provided; a cappella auditions are not permitted.

Roles available
Named parts include Georg Nowack, Amalia Balash, Mr. Maraczek, Ladislav Sipos, Ilona Ritter, Steven Kodaly and Arpad Laszlo. Ensemble spots for customers, carolers and restaurant patrons are also open. All roles are cast without regard to race, gender, ethnicity or body type unless mandated by the playwright.
The production is unpaid.
About the show
"She Loves Me" is set in a 1930s European parfumerie and follows two bickering shop clerks who unknowingly exchange anonymous love letters. The story also inspired the film "You've Got Mail."
The show is the second production in Wheaton Drama's 2026-27 season, following "Big Fish," which opens Friday, Sept. 11. Later offerings include "Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Radio Play," "Into the Breeches!," "Disney's Frozen Jr." and "Murder on the Orient Express."
Performances of "She Loves Me" run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There is no show on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 26, but a Saturday matinee is added Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 630-260-1820.
