The Wheaton Police Department wants residents to fish alongside officers, send their kids through a SWAT obstacle course, and climb inside department vehicles at this year's National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Northside Park, 1300 N. West St.
The event is free. No registration is required.
The department posted the announcement Tuesday, July 21, on the City of Wheaton website, giving families two weeks to mark their calendars. National Night Out is an annual nationwide effort in which police departments open up to the neighborhoods they serve. Wheaton's version includes food and drinks, live music, a SWAT obstacle course for kids, Touch-a-Truck vehicle displays, raffle prizes, and activities hosted by local community organizations.
The Wheaton Park District confirmed in its July 2026 newsletter that it partners with the police department on the event each year. The park district handles logistics at Northside Park, one of the most-visited parks in the district's system.

Warrenville also planning National Night Out
Warrenville will hold its own National Night Out event the same evening at 28W415 Forestview Dr. S. The Warrenville Police Department had not posted hours or activity details as of July 21.
