Motor City: The Motown Revue brought the sounds of The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and more to Memorial Park's bandshell Saturday, Aug. 8, as the Wheaton Park District's Concerts at Memorial Park series continued its summer run.
The 11-piece Blooze Brothers Band opened the evening from 6 to 7:15 p.m., warming up the crowd with their blend of blues, Motown, soul and classic rock. The Chicago-based group has performed for more than three decades, including gigs at the Presidential Inaugural in Washington, D.C., and in front of 70,000 fans at the NHL Winter Classic at Soldier Field.
Motor City: The Motown Revue took the stage at 8 p.m. for a 90-minute headlining set paying tribute to The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Tammi Terrell, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, Martha and The Vandellas, Mary Wells and The Temptations. Songs on the bill included "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "My Girl," "Stop! In the Name of Love" and "Dancing In The Street," according to the Wheaton Park District's event listing.
Gates opened at 5 p.m.
Tickets ran $10 in advance and $12 at the gate. The concert was the latest in a ticketed series the Park District stages on select Friday and Saturday nights at Memorial Park, which earlier this summer featured a Foreigner tribute by Double Vision. Remaining dates and performers for the Memorial Park series had not been posted as of Sunday.

Outdoor concert season is far from over. Cantigny Park's Sounds of Summer series, now in its 30th-plus year, has four Saturday shows left at Tank Park, all running 7 to 9 p.m.:
- Aug. 15 — Fletcher Rockwell, a Chicago-based Americana-rock band building a Midwest following since 2009
- Aug. 22 — Burning Red, an unofficial Taylor Swift tribute billed as a show "by Swifties and for Swifties"
- Aug. 29 — Vital Signs Band
- Sept. 5 — Second Hand News
Closer to downtown, Class of '68 plays a free outdoor concert on the Wheaton Public Library's West Plaza on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The band blends classic rock and soul. No registration is required; attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, according to the Wheaton Public Library.

Thursday, Aug. 20 — Downtown Wheaton Summer Wine Walk, 5 to 8:30 p.m. More than 17 locations will pour one-ounce wine samples, with food tastings at Adelle's Modern Kitchen + Bar, Altiro Latin Fusion, Billy Bricks, Bonita Bowls and Luong Loi. Tickets are $35 (15 samples plus up to five food samples) or $50 VIP. Must be 21 or older. Allison Orr, executive director of the Downtown Wheaton Association, said in a July statement that the Wine Walk is part of a summer lineup supporting local businesses. Details via Patch.
Saturday, Aug. 22 — Wheaton French Market, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the pavilion near Liberty Drive and Main Street. Fresh produce, flowers, baked goods and handcrafted items from vendors organized by Bensidoun USA. The market runs Saturdays through Oct. 25, according to the city of Wheaton.
