A Warrenville recycling firm is seeking city approval to keep bulk fuel tanks at its industrial property on Talbot Avenue, ahead of an August 6 public hearing where neighbors can weigh in.
Calvin Hoving, owner of C. Hoving Recycling and Disposal Inc., filed a special use permit application for bulk fuel storage at 3S080 Talbot Ave., Unit 4, according to a legal notice the City of Warrenville published Wednesday, July 22. The property is owned by 3S080 Talbot LLC and sits west of the intersection of Talbot Avenue and Calumet Avenue West.
The notice describes the request as approval for "existing bulk fuel tanks," indicating the tanks are already on-site and the company is formalizing their presence under the city's zoning code. The property is zoned M-2 General Manufacturing, a classification Warrenville reserves for industrial uses with more significant environmental effects than its lighter M-1 district.
The legal notice does not specify the number of tanks, their capacity, or what type of fuel they hold.
About the applicant
Hoving runs a dumpster rental and waste disposal operation at the same Talbot Avenue address. The company's website describes him as a fourth-generation waste industry operator. C. Hoving Recycling and Disposal provides open-top dumpsters and industrial trash compactors and is listed in Warrenville's official business directory.
Public hearing set for August 6
Warrenville's Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing on the application Thursday, August 6, at 7 p.m. at Warrenville City Hall, 28W701 Stafford Place. The board's previously scheduled July 23 meeting was canceled, making the August 6 session its next regular date.
Residents may attend in person, send an attorney or representative, or submit written comments to the Plan Commission before or during the hearing. The full permit application is available for public inspection at the Community Development Department, 3S258 Manning Ave., or on the city's website.
Amy Emery, the city's community and economic development director, signed the legal notice.
